Delivery: Advertising Campaign Design & Development
Please note that all references to numbers, estimates, percentages, etc. are fictional; made up by students for the sole purpose of developing a theoretical campaign.
Make it pretty.
I believe that great design is in the details. Design is more than just choosing colors, typefaces, shapes, and images. Good design works to present information in such a way as to support the information it presents. When I design anything, I'm constantly considering how the information will be presented and how it will function in varying media, whether it's web, print or multimedia. You can be sure that both aesthetics and functionality are equally considered in my designs.
Make it big.
First, let me define "development." For me, development is bringing to life the design I have created by actually building the Web page or the ad through the use of various software. I specialize in front-end web development: HTML and CSS, as well as WordPress customization. PhotoShop, InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator are what I use to develop print advertisements, manuals, brochures, bumper stickers, etc.
Make it sell.
What is the primary reaction we want from the target audience? I keep my theory simple and go back to the Advertising basics. There are three primary responses ads can trigger:
To feel, to experience an emotion.
To think, to understand, perhaps remember.
To take action, do something.
My advertising will always strive to do one or more of these three things depending on what my client wants.
Go big or go home.
Caroline’s vast experience helped eliminate the confusion and intimidation that frequently accompanies developing/redesigning a website. With her creativity, technical knowledge and keen insight she was able to tailor our website to fit our unique requirements. She is fun, enjoyable and consistently displays a “can do” attitude. Thank you Caroline!
Caroline did some artwork for my private wine collection. She is extremely creative and able to crystalize abstract ideas into print. She was able to demonstrate, through her art, what I could only describe as a mood or feeling. Her open mind and desire to bring to life exactly what was asked allowed her to capture exactly what I had in mind, even when I didn't know what I had in mind.
Caroline Rostad is a talented and creative graphic artist and designer. She has the ability to take an idea from conception and turn it in to an "end product" that pleases her client. Caroline has an unusually keen sense of knowing how to use color to create visually appealing designs and her compositions are always conceptually "on target". Her experience is not limited to artist/designer as she is familiar with and has experience in all areas of graphic arts. Caroline adheres to quality standards in her work, and although her career has just begun, she possesses traits that if given the opportunity to flourish and grow, will make her a truly great graphic designer!
Caroline does beautiful, smart work. Creating visual training guides that communicate complex menu information in a manner that is easily consumed is a real talent. Caroline does this splendidly for us. We value her greatly.
Working with Caroline is a pleasure. She redesigned our web site at church and made it very user-friendly. Caroline is easy to work with and always has good ideas and plans to implement them.
A transplanted Oklahoman, I was raised in Montana. Born and raised right-brained, I have always explored the creative, the imaginative, and the artistic. Hopeless at math; good with colors. I currently live in the center of the country, in Norman, Oklahoma, with my husband, our two Golden Retrievers, Newton and Molly, and our fluffy cat, AC. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2009 with a Bachelors in Journalism & Advertising. Click here for my full resume.
I love what I do. Design, both print and web, is a passion. Brand development, technical writing, photography, typography, and layout are just a few more things that keep me busy. I love traveling, animals, books, computers, typography, photography, good food and better wine. I'll try anything twice.
